The DMLC Racing Channel and the Lionheart Racing Series today have announced a naming rights sponsorship for Lionheart’s popular Retro Series.

Now known as the Lionheart Retro Series presented by DMLC Racing Channel, the tribute to the golden era of open-wheel racing in America features the Lotus 79 ground effects-based Formula One, with 18 rounds of racing spread across both road courses and ovals, including the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

DMLC Racing Channel founder Marc Cohn - the Lionheart Retro Series Driver of the Year in 2019 following a fourth place points finish and a pair of wins - stepped in to sponsor the series that grew so close to his heart in 2019.

“Lionheart gave me opportunities beyond my wildest imagination,” Cohn said. “Whether it was furthering myself as a driver, improving the quality of my channel’s content, or getting the chance to join the family of a tight-knit sim racers with amazing camaraderie, Lionheart has meant everything to me over this last year.”

The DMLC Racing Channel was founded in 2018 by Cohn, a lifelong racing enthusiast who wanted to share his passion for sim racing with others. His channel has become famous in the open-wheel community for its humor and Marc’s constant dialogue throughout the race. Cohn has also earned a reputation as a fierce yet clean competitor capable of winning any event he enters, adding to the excitement of his content.

Lionheart Racing Series founder Jorge Anzaldo said he was excited to see Cohn continue his association with the Retro Series, after deciding to step out of the cockpit in 2020 to focus on the Lionheart IndyCar Series championship.

“Marc obviously made a tremendous impact from day one,” Anzaldo said. “You don’t win Driver of the Year unless you’ve made significant contributions, not only as a driver but as a member of the family. Marc has been a true friend and when he approached me about sponsoring Retro, I couldn't say no.”

The Lionheart Retro Series presented by DMLC Racing Channel kicks off its 18-race season on Thursday, March 19 with the DMLC Racing Channel Grand Prix of Miami at Homestead-Miami Speedway. All races can be viewed live on the iRacing eSports Network with production by Global SimRacing Channel with 10:40 p.m. EST broadcast start times.

You can follow Marc and the DMLC Racing Channel on YouTube and on his Facebook page. For more information on the Lionheart Retro Series presented by DMLC Racing Channel, head to www.LionheartRacingSeries.com.
