Joe Hassert leads 22 laps to capture the Dan Wheldon Memorial All-Star Race in the Lionheart IndyCar Series presented by Overdrive Graphics. The night started off with a 20-lap Lionheart IndyCar Series Shootout, which saw the first six finishers advance to the main event. A massive wreck with 8 laps to go took out many of the night's top competitors. Advancing to the All-Star race was: Chris Stofer, Terry Matthiensen, Ian Adams, Ryan Bowles, Ricky Hardin and Carl Burk. In two-lap qualifying immediately before the start of the All-Star Race, Rick Music turned the fastest lap with a 39.814. Joe Hassert qualified second, with Dan Geren, Tony Lurcock, and Ian Adams rounding out the top 5. Pole-sitter Rick Music won the first segment leading all but two laps. Joe Hassert finished second, with Terry Matthiensen finishing third, Justin Laxton in fourth, and Chris Stofer in fifth. With optional pit-stops, and others pitting just prior to the caution, Terry Matthiensen led the field to green. At the end of 15 laps, Joe Hassert captured the checkered flag, with Rick Music finishing second, and Vincent Bluthenthal finishing third. Segment one winner Rick Music led the field to green, with Segment two winner Joe Hassert starting second. Terry Matthiensen started third, Justin Laxton in fourth, and Michael Gray in fifth. The only non-competition caution of the race occured with five laps to go when Justin Laxton and Michael Gray tangled in turn 4. When the checkered flag flew on Joe Hassert’s car, Rookie Terry Matthiensen finished second, Vincent Bluthenthal in third, Dan Geren in fourth, and Robert Blouin finished fifth. Segment one winner Rick Music came home in sixth. Chris Stofer who won the Open race, finished 12th. The series officially kicks-off on July 22nd with the Overdrive Graphics 200 from the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The race will be broadcast live on the Global SimRacing Channel.
