Following three straight races with accidents, Dan Geren leads 36 laps in round 17 of the Lionheart IndyCar Series presented by Overdrive Graphics and Sim Posters on Wednesday night to take the victory at the Kansas Speedway.

In only his second start in the series, Jake Wright, found some beginner’s luck and squeeked out Dan Geren for the pole. The first caution waved on lap 5 for a caution involving the I Race for Gage entry of Jack Bogan, Ian Adams, Jorge Anzaldo, and Pierre Daigle. The second caution of the race, flew on lap 27 for an incident involving Pete Edwins and Vincent Bluthenthal. Under that caution, the first full-field pit stop occured, with both Jake Wright and Ian Adams getting caught for speeding on pit road.

The first on-track lead change occured on lap 57 when Dan Geren passed “Big Joe” Hassert. One lap later, the caution would fly for an incident with Hassert and Trevor Malone. The final caution occured on lap 85 for an incident between newly crowned series champion, Jesse Vincent, and Justin Laxton.

During the final round of pit stops, Chris Lanini went all-in, and did not pit. As the laps closed, Lanini battled with Dan Geren, and it looked as though he might win. With just two laps to go, Lanini’s bet was called as he ran out of gas. Geren then went on to win, with Team #nailedit teammate Korey Connor finishing second, with polesitter Jake Wright finishing third.

John Downing in the Sim Posters car finished fourth, with Adam Plunkett finishing 5th. Rounding out the top 10 was Krysta Nelson, Jason Robarge, Justin Laxton, Alfred Shepperd, and Chris Lanini.

With Jesse Vincent already capturing the season title and Joe Hassert needing to score just 25 points in next week’s season finale, the battle in the points is for third position, where Trevor Malone leads Justin Laxton by just 28 points. Race winner Dan Geren is just 1 point back of Laxton, with Korey Connor, John Downing, and Jason Robarge right behind him.

Next week the series heads to the Auto Club Speedway for the Series finale, which will be broadcast on the Global SimRacing Channel. Be sure to tune in at 10:35pm Eastern Time! Race Chaser Online will have both pre and post-race summaries!
